Village Cannabis Club VCC was founded 15 years ago as the educational arm  of Laguna Woods Medical Cannabis Collective which provided the funding for the clubs Speaker Program that brought in a long list of cannabis scientists, researchers, pharmacists doctors,  award winning science writers.

The club has moved online but will occasionally host a meeting at a club house. When asked why an online presence rather than clubhouse meetings. Club  president Lonnie Painter said, “It’s a number of things, the main reason is we no longer have the collective to fund our expenses. Renting a clubhouse then having to pay to use the kitchen was costing more & more. And  every few years management starts to mumble about clubs need their own insurance. Management was not easy to work with.  They always wanted a list of our members but I would only give a list of 20 members who said it was ok to identify them. Not a problem now but 10 years ago cannabis was proposition 215 quasi legal & some people did not want their name on a list as a cannabis user.”  Painter went on to say, “I see a need to assist people who are looking for a natural remedy to some of lifes problems, physical, mental,  transcendental. I know Cannabis I can help”.
